While directed manifestation is not the primary intent of N.O.W. (that would be healing separation and the subsequent rediscovery of the joy of oneness), it can be used as an aid to bring forth forms in the physical world.
Because N.O.W. has this capability, and because manifestation can result in a world of hurt if not done properly, I thought it would be wise to write a few advisory and cautionary words about N.O.W. and manifestation.
Many of you have probably seen the Disney animated feature “Fantasia”. This classic film has many wonderful teaching moments. You may recall the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” segment in which Mickey Mouse get’s involved with the sorcerer’s magic cap and spell book and proceeds to create havoc.
The take away from the Sorcerer’s Apprentice segment is this: know that manifestation is possible, but it needs to proceed from truth inherent in non-egoic stillness, and not from the falsehood of egoic desire.
Let’s look at the later case first –– manifestation from egoic desire.
The egoic self is a mental construct, an ephemeral “I” that only lives through past or future-focused thoughts. “I” did such and such, “I” want such and such to occur etc.
The reality is this: there is no past, there is no future, there is only now. Past and future are both mental thought forms. The past is experienced as a memory, the future is experienced as imagined projection –– and when the future comes, it is experienced in the eternal now, the present moment.
Egoic desire is the urge of the ego (the form-identified “I”) to attach itself to forms in the physical world in a doomed attempt seek fulfillment and substantiation through those forms. It does not matter if the form is an idea, a person, a place or a thing. Egoic attachment to form (and all forms are impermanent) is always going to result in disappointment and suffering as the form changes.
The other disappointment that arises from egoic form attachment is that of unrealistic expectations not being met. The egoic “I” always expects the external form to magically make “me” complete, to supply what is missing –– the true, abundant and eternal life that is Consciousness.
So if you go down the path of manifesting forms because you think you’re going to be made whole by them, or that the manifested form is going to make you wealthy, happy, “in love” blah blah blah, and that these form-states can be sustained, you are headed for a world of hurt. On the other hand there is another way.
To avoid the eventual suffering that would arise from egoic form manifestation you should first practice awareness of spacious stillness, awareness of being aware –– consciousness awakened from thought-based form identification, then allow true insight to arise. The insights that proceed from stillness retain the truth of stillness as they manifest into form –– there remains the essential truth of consciousness temporarily manifested as that form.
While N.O.W. is an “invention” I co-developed with my partner Alene Sibley, we are not its authors. Alene and I are the conduits through which N.O.W. comes to the world of form.
An essential aspect I built into N.O.W. is what I call “embedded stillness”. Each N.O.W. speaker contains a large number of pre-recorded New Origin Waveform tone sequences that are combined, in the moment of use, to create an absolutely unique aural experience each and every moment N.O.W. is used.
All of the pre-recorded tone sequences were performed by me as improvisational compositions while I was in a clear, no-thought, consciously aware state of mind. While playing the specially-tuned analog tone generators I simply let my hands be guided by impulse and not by thoughts of musicality.
As a result, all of the many recordings are not only recordings of tone sequence performances. The recordings are documentation of a no-thought state of mind. And when these recordings combine at the moment a playback my own no-thought state of mind is transmitted to the listener, who, to varying degrees (dependent on their own stage of consciousness awakening), can resonate to this embedded stillness and experience this stillness at the time and place of their own N.O.W. listening session.
I was inspired by a few important texts of perennial philosophy that speak with such power that they can only be the product of minds brought to stillness, and from which truth-in-word form emerged. These are: the Tao Te Ching (Steven Mitchell translation), “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius, the essays of Ralph Waldo Emerson (in particular “The Over-Soul”), A Course in Miracles, the Sufi teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan, and the “The Power of NOW” by Eckhart Tolle.
To a consciousness that is awakening from the slumber of form-identification, all of these works speak with an unmistakable truth that arises from deep, spacious, stillness. It was my intention to go to that same spacious, still place as I performed the New Origin Waveform tone sequences and embed that stillness within the recordings. I believe this was achieved.
Using N.O.W. as a Manifestation Aid
Now that you’re aware that N.O.W. is far more than a pleasant sounding pair of speakers, and that it is a conveyor of active and alive stillness, AND you’re aware of the problem of egoic form-attached manifestation, you’re ready to use N.O.W. as an aid in manifestation.
A manifestation session with N.O.W. looks like this: prior to starting the N.O.W. speakers, decide in advance what it is you want to have happen or make manifest. For example, you could simply sit quietly and feel gratitude, feel abundance, feel loved.
You could sit and think about how it would feel to win the lottery, but as we’ve seen from stories of lottery winners, these people often end up living in a world of pain. So I would advise sticking with more abstract concepts such as abundance, love, peace, joy, creativity, right relationship etc rather than trying to manifest the particular details of your next love relationship.
The value of setting your manifestation intention in advance of your N.O.W. session is two-fold: first, it keeps your listing session “clean” and free from thought. Second, as the N.O.W. session unfolds, and the inevitable thoughts arise, you will begin to perceive these thoughts (insights really) as the means by which you can manifest a physical form or situation as a specific embodiment of the abstract concept (abundance for example) you had set as a focus-intent prior to your N.O.W. session.
When the N.O.W. session ends you can then jot down some ideas about how the insights that arose could be realized in the physical world. And as you share these new insights with others, and begin to extend them into the world, they increasingly take root and grow into fruition.
You simply need to practice accessing stillness, allow insights to arise, share those insights and then observe how the world responds to them, presenting you with what the Roman Catholics call “Signal Graces” –– directional signposts (in the form of serendipitous appearance of people, places, things, or occurrences) experienced as Grace.
That’s how you can use N.O.W. to manifest, without getting in trouble like Mickey Mouse in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
